Now to the point:
As I already said, the phone was chosen very meticulously. I already have a couple of smartphones and tablets, so I won’t expand on the topic of legibility. The device was needed for work, with 2 SIM cards, a good camera, the ability to work with mail non-stop, and of course, great call reception!
The first thing that struck me was its speed of work and the clarity of its execution of commands. Add a small case here - it’s really quite thin, for the money, a very stylish design, the best battery in its class, you get an excellent workhorse!
I put 2 different SIM cards in it - one unlimited internet, on the second there were only calls and SMS and I never saw that there were problems with him! It transitions clearly from WI-FI and back, the pages do not slow down, I can even easily turn on the TV on it at the same time and work with office programs - fast!! Movies and music seem to be a blast!!
About the capacity internal memory, I want to say that it has 2 separate slots for SIM and a separate slot for a memory card, which is up to 128 GB. Honestly, I don’t know where you need to keep so many programs and movies on your phone... I installed it on 16 GB and am happy, because it automatically transferred photos and videos to a memory card!!
The video camera is very decent, there is even a “Pro” mode with aperture settings!
The battery lasts me 10-12 hours with my active use!

The AMOLED screen is very good, the resolution is sufficient, although when compared with flagships like the Galaxy S5-S6, some blurriness of the picture is felt. Movies look great, and reading is also very comfortable. There seems to be an oleophobic coating, the finger glides normally.
It fits well in the hand. The back cover is a little slippery, but there are almost no fingerprints (I have a black device).
All the programs I installed - WhatsApp, PowerAmp, MX Player, Yandex maps, taxi, metro, AlReader, Smart AudioBook Player and others work absolutely without problems, smoothly and clearly. MX Player with neon codecs plays HD videos perfectly. The built-in browser also works as it should.

Hi all. Recently, a brand new smartphone came into my hands, costing no more than eight thousand. And at first I was skeptical about it, and didn’t even want to review it, because if it’s budget, it means that the manufacturers still saved on something, as is usually the case. Although, of course, there are exceptions. And it seems to me that this is one of those pleasant exceptions. But first things first.
Smartphone Samsung J1, model 2016. Those who are in the know will understand. And for those who are not in the know, I’ll explain, there is a 2015 J1, with slightly different characteristics, this one was released in 2016, named the same, but some parameters have been improved.
So let's start with appearance. It fully continues the glorious traditions, thanks to which Samsung smartphones have earned the “proud” name - remnant. But still, if you compare it with previous models, it doesn’t matter whether they are flagships or budget smart phones, there is still some subtle difference. Although, the same home button has been preserved. I wonder if Samsung will ever give it up? As for me, the mechanical home button does not cause any inconvenience. Or am I just used to it over the years of use? Quite possible.
What this smartphone It is thicker than mine, I even like it, there is a certain feeling of good quality and reliability of the device.
If we talk about back smartphone, there are no fundamental changes here, everything is in the best traditions of Samsung. The cover is removable and hides the battery underneath. And the fact that it is removable is a definite plus. After all, you can always replace the battery without going to service centers.
By the way, the back cover is made of plastic, from Not glossy plastic. Of course, it looks ordinary, but it is practical. It is comfortable to hold the smartphone in your hand, and it does not tend to slip out, as happens with thin glossy units.
As for the controls, here, as always, nothing supernatural happened, everything is in its rightful place. The power button, volume rocker - everything, as before, is simple and convenient. I think another advantage here is that the place for the speaker on the front part is covered with a grille, and not, as happens, there is a hole in the place of the grille. It's a small thing, but nice.
But what slightly disappointed me was the absence of such a small thing as an LED indicator, which I was used to using in . A convenient thing that is somehow missing here.
So, at the bottom of the screen there is, as I already said, a mechanical “home” button, which, as for me, is pressed a little stiffly and with a click that could have been quieter. Thank you at least for not hanging around ☺ .
For some reason, the touch buttons on the sides of “home” are not backlit. Here it is, savings... Although, it does not cause any particular inconvenience, so I will not write it down as a disadvantage.
There is a 3.5 audio jack on top, although, judging by numerous reviews, for some reason everyone wants the jack to be at the bottom. I don’t understand, but I’m quite happy with the top location of this connector. Be grateful that it exists at all ☺, the seventh “apple” has removed it altogether. It’s just because of this that I didn’t buy the seventh iPhone! Just kidding, of course ☺ .
Okay, we've sorted out the audio jack. What do we have with microUSB? Where are you, comrade, hiding? And he doesn’t need to hide anywhere, he’s in his usual place, below. Where else could he be?
Nearby there is a hole for a conversational microphone. But there is no microphone for noise reduction. But, looking ahead, I will say that this does not affect the quality of communication.
Almost every flagship smartphone instead of three standard connectors - for SIM cards and for a memory card - a combined version is used, here the standard and everyone’s favorite option is used: two SIM cards and a card microSD memory. It would be like this everywhere!
Next, the screen. According to the numbers, the resolution seems to be nothing unusual, quite standard resolution for a 4.5-inch screen diagonal, 480x800. But wait a minute, what is this? Super AMOLED? Is this a bug or what? No, Samsung tried, and this budget smartphone actually has such a matrix installed. To my memory, this has never happened before. And that's cool! Of course, ardent opponents of acid colors will be indignant, but I, as a fan of Super AMOLED, with whom I have been dealing for several years, really like this solution from the Koreans. And at first I perceive even good IPS matrices with a grain of irony. (True, later, having used a smartphone with a really high-quality IPS matrix, it was difficult to get used to Amol again. But that’s another story...)
So, Super AMOLED. In a state budget. Of course, the resolution imposes certain conditions - this concerns the sharpness of the image, since the ppi here is only 207. But if you don’t peer at the screen and look for every single pixel, like a wanderer looking for something unknown, then there will be no discomfort when using such a screen. Although, 2k resolution would be cool. And the screen is bigger, and this is better, and this is better... But we are talking about an inexpensive smartphone, which is quite good-looking for its price ☺ .
The characteristic deep black color for such a matrix is present here. If we compare similar budget smartphones with similar characteristics and price, then they will have IPS matrices, and most likely not of the best quality.
The brightness of the screen suits me, I usually don’t turn the brightness slider to maximum, about 80 percent. The color saturation is excellent, the viewing angles are at the maximum, after all, this is Super AMOLED, and that says it all.
I won’t say anything special about the oleophobic coating, it seems to be there, and it doesn’t seem to be there. In comparison with, we can say that the screen does not have grease-repellent properties. The smoothness of sliding your fingers across the screen is not as good as we would like, but we must not forget that we are talking about a budget smartphone. For its price, the screen is good and the lack of smoothness of the screen does not cause much discomfort.
By the way, multi-touch for five simultaneous touches. As for me, there is no need for more. I wonder what situation would require ten simultaneous touches on the screen?
By the way, even though this is budget smartphone, there is a selection of screen profiles, the same as on older models. That is, you can remove the acidity and saturation of the screen if you prefer calmer colors. Some may be upset by the lack of automatic adjustment of the display backlight - this fact did not upset me at all, since I am a fan of manually setting the brightness. I remember when I bought the Nokia 6301i, I was very unhappy that the phone only had one automatic adjustment. At first I considered it a defect, then I finally returned the phone to the store, although, in theory, the store had every right do not exchange a working device. But he was relentless ☺.
So, I was quite pleased with the screen. And although 4.5 inches seemed very small to me at first, after a couple of weeks I stopped feeling the discomfort associated with the diagonal.
As for the build quality: even though the smartphone, I emphasize, is budget, the build is excellent. Nothing creaks or plays, even if the smartphone is slightly squeezed. The lid, although removable, is attached securely; opening it will require some effort. And it latches with a loud click and does not push through if you press it. So, for the build quality, you can safely give this device a big plus.
Now a few words about the camera: here it is only five megapixels, which is quite good for a budget employee. But it happens that an eight-megapixel camera in a budget phone can be of terrible quality. Let's figure it out.
Judging by several test photos, we can say that these five megapixels are very, very good. Judge for yourself: the sharpness of the images is sufficient, as is the color rendition. This is if you shoot outdoors in natural light. It can be seen that despite the modest camera module, the smartphone tries to “pull” pictures good level, and it should be noted that he succeeds very well. But with the onset of evenings, and even indoors with a lack of light, the sharpness deteriorates and graininess appears. But again, don’t forget that this is a budget smartphone and the camera is pretty good for its price.
The video shoots up to HD, nothing special. It could be worse.
