Compared to its predecessor, the smartphone has become higher by 6 mm, slightly at the same, but the thickness has practically not changed. At the same time, the weight of the device even decreased slightly: 149.4 grams of the hero of our review versus 152 grams for the Galaxy S7. In a word, nothing unusual if we consider the dimensions in isolation from the rest. However, it is not.
Almost all the space (about 84%) of the front panel is occupied by the display, the diagonal of which has grown to 5.8 inches, and the aspect ratio is now 18.5: 9 instead of the usual 16: 9. The device screen is curved at the sides and its corners are rounded. Coupled with its size, this produces a real "wow" effect. Unfortunately, it was not without frames at all, albeit very thin. The earpiece is located above the display, front-camera and a light sensor. The navigation keys, instead of the usual location under the screen, have moved directly to the screen.
The back of the gadget is also bent at the sides. A flash with a set of sensors, a camera and a fingerprint sensor are located in a row on it. The location of the latter is frankly unfortunate - the finger constantly gets on the camera, leaving prints on it.

With moderate use, which includes up to two hours of watching online videos, chatting in instant messengers, and social networks, a couple of hours of listening to music and about an hour of talking, the device can last more than three days.
Of course, Samsung's flagship is equipped with fast charging... It charges from 10 to 100% in 96 minutes. Also note the Always-on-Display feature. Thanks to her, even on the locked screen, various information and notifications are always displayed. It consumes about 1% of the charge per hour in standby mode, which translates into 24% of the battery charge for a full day.

There is an Edge panel on the desktop, which can be called up by swiping from the edge of the screen. It implements fast access to the data buffer and contacts, there are also shortcuts for launching applications and an advanced menu for taking screenshots.
Swiping from left to right on the desktop or pressing a dedicated button will launch the Bixby digital assistant. At the moment, he is able to display a selection of relevant news, weather and events from the calendar. Opportunity expected voice control, as in Google Assistant, but so far this functionality does not work in Russia.
