Paired review of smartphones ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and Pop C5. Information about the dimensions and weight of the device, presented in different units of measurement. Used materials, offered colors, certificates

Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - sensor of the device's position in space. As a primary function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the display image (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled by various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures the angles of rotation relative to a fixed coordinate system. Able to measure angles of rotation in several planes at the same time. The gyroscope together with the accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. In devices that use only accelerometers, the measurement accuracy is lower, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor, thanks to which the optimal values of brightness and contrast for a given illumination level are established. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the rechargeable battery.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to the face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental presses. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the rechargeable battery.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the side of the world to which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the earth's magnetic poles. The information received from the sensor is used in cartographic programs for orientation on the ground.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure. Part of the GPS system, it allows you to determine the height above sea level and speed up the location.
Touch ID- fingerprint identification sensor.

Satellite navigation:

Gps(Global Positioning System) - satellite system navigation, which measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is designed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The main principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distance to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated from the signal propagation delay time from its sending by the satellite to being received by the GPS receiver antenna.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measuring principle is the same American system GPS navigation. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support of land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that the GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchronization) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.

At the beginning of 2014, the budget-class smartphone Alcatel 5036D went on sale. Reviews about this gadget, technical specifications and software filling - that's what will be detailed in this small review.

Device hardware resources

The main component that determines the computing power of any smartphone is the central processing unit. It is with its parameters that we will begin the review. The Alcatel POP C5 5036D smartphone is based on a rather modest chip produced by MediaTech - MT6572. It is a 32-bit RISC processor with 2 cores of Cortex-A7 architecture. The clock frequency of a given semiconductor crystal can be dynamically changed. In the mode of minimum loads, one of the computational modules is turned off, and the second operates at 300 MHz. In turn, when running resource-intensive applications, 2 cores work at once at a frequency of 1.3 GHz. Among the 2 crystal chips of this architecture, this is one of the highest. The second important component that determines the computing capabilities of the device is the video card. In this case, we are talking about the graphics adapter "Mali-400MP2". It frees up resources central processing unit to ensure smooth operation of the 5036D. Reviews of the satisfied owners of the described smartphone confirm this once again. Now let's summarize. Hardware filling this smartphone enough for most everyday tasks. From listening to music and surfing the Internet to watching movies and mid-range games, this gadget can handle everything. The only place where its hardware platform will not be enough is in the most demanding games that have appeared relatively recently. But this is a budget smartphone entry level, and to run these most demanding applications requires a more expensive mobile device with the best characteristics... So there is probably nothing to complain about.

Graphics subsystem of the device

Alcatel 5036D has quite a good display with a diagonal of 4.5 inches. A review of its parameters suggests that its matrix is made using a slightly outdated technology: LED. It is this nuance that significantly reduces the viewing angles. But this is an entry-level device, and therefore it is unfair to put forward any requirements to it in this regard. The display surface handles just two touches. And the screen itself displays the standard 16 million different color shades and has one of the most popular resolutions of 480 x 800 today. Otherwise, this is a fairly high-quality display with impeccable color reproduction. As expected, this smartphone has 2 cameras. The front panel displays the usual VZHA - a camera with a 0.3 megapixel sensor. Of course, you don't have to expect something supernatural from her, but it is quite possible to make ordinary video calls with her help. For the rest of the cases, this gadget has a main camera located on the back of the device. Its sensor is many times better - already 5 megapixels. With this, there is an LED flash. In general, the picture quality is quite acceptable in the Alcatel 5036D. A feature that is clearly lacking in it is autofocus. If this option was present, then the photo would be several times better. There is also support for recording videos in HD quality.

Memory

Alcatel 5036D has a very modest memory subsystem. An overview of its technical parameters indicates that 512 MB of RAM is integrated in it. Of these, the user can use about 200 MB for his needs. Let's be realistic - this is very little at the moment. The problem can be solved only by installing specialized utilities. One of them is the "SM-accelerator". She will control the amount of free RAM, and if it remains very little, it will offer to optimize software and close unnecessary applications at this moment. The situation is similar with the built-in storage. Its total volume is 4 GB. At the same time, 2 GB of them can be used by the user at his own discretion. This problem can only be solved external storage... This gadget has a slot for installing transflash cards. The maximum volume is 32 GB. This is quite enough for comfortable work, but you will have to buy this accessory separately, since it is not included in the package.

Body and usability on this gadget

The plastic case is the weak point of the Alcatel POP C5 5036D. The cover and the protective sticker for the front panel must be purchased immediately and without fail. The coating can be either glossy or matte (we check this information with the seller before buying). But in any case, it spoils easily. An audio jack and a power button are located on the upper side of the smartphone. There is a volume swing on the right edge. Hidden below is a microUSB standard port and a spoken microphone. Above the screen, two important components of the smartphone are located at once: the earpiece and the front-facing VZHA camera. Under the display, as expected, there are three standard touchscreens. The back cover is also not empty. On it, in addition to the usual loud speaker and the backlit main camera, there is also a microphone hole, which suppresses external noises during a call. Despite the rather impressive dimensions (131 x 70 mm) and the display diagonal of 4.5 inches, this smartphone cannot be called a “shovel”. It fits comfortably in the hand and can be operated easily and simply. In this case, the second hand remains free.

Battery capabilities

The Alcatel POP C5 5036D smartphone is equipped with a sufficiently capacious 1800 mAh battery, and therefore its autonomy raises no objections. The processor in this device is energy efficient (it is for these purposes that it is recommended to use the Cortex-A7 architecture). Therefore, one charge will last for 2 days of intensive use. But with less load on the device and incomplete screen brightness, this indicator can increase by 2 times. And it will be already 4 days. For a device that belongs to the initial segment, this is an excellent indicator, something more should not be expected from it.

System software and software filling

Alcatel 5036D is currently running the most popular Android OS. The firmware indicates that version 4.2.2 is installed on the device. Of course, this is not 5.0 or even 4.4. But again, an entry-level smartphone with modest technical parameters, you shouldn't expect anything more on it. The situation is similar with updates. The smart phone has been on sale for a very long time, so you shouldn't hope for updates. But, on the other hand, there are no problems with the installation and compatibility of the software.

Communications

Quite a standard set of data transfer methods for Alcatel 5036D. Reviews, in turn, suggest that it is quite enough for comfortable work on this device. So, the following data transfer methods are supported:

  • The most popular wireless data transfer method is Wi-Fi. Cope easily and simply with any amount of information. Its only drawback is its small radius of action, which is limited to some ten meters.
  • The device operates quite successfully in both second and third generation networks. In the first case, the maximum speed is limited to hundreds of kilobits per second, but in the second version, this figure increases several times and amounts to several tens of megabits per second.
  • Bluetooth has the same drawback as Wi-Fi. And his speed will be less. But its main task is to exchange information with exactly the same smart phones in a small amount. And for such cases, it is simply irreplaceable.
  • The LPS sensor provides excellent navigation in unfamiliar terrain.
  • The audio jack allows you to output sound from your smartphone to external sound systems.
  • The last important port is microUSB. With the help of an adapter cord, it allows you to charge the battery of the device or even connect to personal computer to exchange information.

To be honest, I do not like to regularly change gadgets, phones and use a mobile phone for 5 years is the norm for me. I used my last Nokia so much. And maybe I would still use it now ... But ...

Technological progress does not stand still. Six months ago, I had to go on business for a long time to an almost unfamiliar city - SPB and I decided that I needed new smartphone... In order not to simply get lost in an unfamiliar environment.

There was a lot of time to choose a mobile phone. Before that, I considered Samsung, they are my favorite, but they do not hold the charge well ... And the payment for the brand is great ... And for similar technical capabilities, the Samsung was more expensive than all other brands.

Time was running out, and I decided to stop at

I bought the phone six months ago in the MTS salon. Then it cost around 3000 rubles.

Having spent bonuses Thanks from SBERBANK, the phone cost me 2000 ... He was given two SIM cards from MTS.

Why is it so cheap, you may ask?

The thing is that the phone is two-digit. One of the SIM cards must be from MTS.

Those. I have two SIM cards - TELE2 and MTS. You cannot use the phone without MTS.

Main technical Alcatel specifications POP C5 5036D:

Operating system: Google android 4.2

The smartphone is available in black, white and gray. Body material plastic - glossy.

I chose between 4.5 and 5 inches. When I saw him, I decided to stop at 4,5.

At first I hardly held it in my hand. And heavy, seemed, and huge.

But I got used to it and after a month my old five-year-old Nokia was a wonder.

The quality of the plastic is good enough. The first three months I wore the phone without a cover, and it did not suffer (there are no bright scuffs on the back panel, etc.)

My husband's Samsung for two months noticeably rubbed on the sides of the back panel.

The phone came with a cable charging usb, headphones.

Unfortunately, I broke the headphones in three months active use but this is my fault.

They were not even very bad.

As you can see, the phone is clearly under Samsung. The edging is made of plastic like metal, smooth rounded corners, three touch-sensitive keys, very reminiscent of a well-known brand to me.

Front and rear speakers. The speaker is not very conveniently located at the back. I often cover it with my finger when I talk. Accordingly, I can not be heard.

Below, next to the buttons is usb.

From the side at the bottom left, hooked with your fingernail, you can open the cover and remove the battery. This is not very difficult to do, even simple. I know one Lenovo phone, where the lid opens with great difficulty.

Behind the only inscription Alcatel. Now I have it covered with a cover. Also the camera.

Under the battery there is a slot for two full-size SIM cards and a slot for a memory card.

I can't buy a new memory card, but I'm afraid to put the old one. In general, the built-in memory 2 GB I have enough.

What does not work for me in the design is that the buttons - the power button and the volume control on the side - are removed along with the lid.

Let's go to the screen

  • Display: 4.5-inch, 854 * 480.

It's big enough for me when it comes to the phone. But the quality of the display itself leaves much to be desired. The colors are dull compared the same photos on two different brands - my smartphone and microcoft. So on microcoft the color rendition was fantastic.

Also, before writing a review, I compared the photos on my device and samsung average price category(up to 10 thousand rubles). The comparison is clearly in favor of the latter. But he does not shine with a bright picture either.

In addition, if you sit in a cell phone all day, your eyes hurt and turn red.

  • Sim cards

Setting up SIM cards is very convenient: everything is extremely simple and straightforward. You can choose from which one to send SMS, which one to sit on the network with. The only strange thing is that the mobile phone does not want to give out the balance of the tele2 (

  • Sound

The smartphone is loud enough. My Nokia was probably louder, but Alcatel I always hear if the sound is on. The only thing that pisses me off is that I just can't put melodies on contact, but I seem to have got used to it.

  • Battery

It holds the battery perfectly. In no way inferior to my old Nokia. Samsung battery before him as before China.

  • Camera 5 MP

Of course she is not. But I don't really need it. Photographing papers, the schedule at the stand is quite suitable. For highly artistic photos I have a DSLR.

The front camera is present, but it is very weak.

  • Voice recorder

He is beautiful. The sound is very clear, the recording is one hour, the main thing is to keep it at the end.

  • fm radio

I use it quite often. The radio works great with headphones.

  • Mobile Internet: 3 g, wi fi

Browsing the Internet with MTS is very comfortable for me. The data transfer rate is high. This is especially noticeable when watching a video on a tube. With tele2, everything is slower. Wi fi works great.

Also for data transmission there is Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0.

To do SCREEN SHOT, you need to hold down two buttons: top off button on / off and side volume button and hold.

The applications work fine for me:

  • Youtobe
  • viber
  • operа mini
  • chrome
  • blacklist of numbers
  • 2 GIS
  • and many many others...

Conclusions:

If you are not a pretentious user and you need a phone with two SIM cards, the Internet, a calculator, a dictaphone at hand, you want to periodically work with applications for android, then I advise you to pay attention to Alcatel POP C5.

But if you expect extra performance from the phone, you need a mini computer with a large amount of memory, the capabilities are probably better to take Apple

Other reviews about the technique:

Once upon a time telephones of the ALCATEL company were popular and quite widespread. Then the company disappeared for a while and when it seemed that it was no longer worth waiting for, it returned with new devices. Modern, good, albeit Chinese. Its Idol smartphone series at one time became almost the thinnest and attracted a lot of attention of lovers of high-quality budget devices. And today I got my hands on two new items - alas, not as bright as the "idols", but still very interesting.

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5 belong to the affordable Pop line and are distinguished, first of all, by an attractive price. The older "fifth" model costs about 1500-1600 (~ $ 143) hryvnia, the younger C3 - about 1000-1200 (~ $ 100).

We meet by clothes

Pop series smartphones come in bright and cheerful boxes. Simple, but stylish and even kind of beautiful. True, a slight disappointment awaited me inside: smartphones have few accessories, the quality is dubious, like most budget devices. The headset is a standard droplet that is hardly capable of delivering pleasure in terms of both comfort and sound.

Fortunately, everything is better with the devices themselves. Even though these are standard bricks for a budget class, they are not devoid of some charm and are made in general of high quality: there are no squeaks, no lags, the panels adjoin each other very tightly.

It is difficult to assess the external beauty of these smartphones, as well as any other state employees. They are neat and neat, but under no circumstances can they claim originality or recognition.

The older ONETOUCH Pop C5 is made of milky-white plastic with all its advantages (beautiful) and disadvantages (all fingerprints and the slightest specks of dust are visible). On the sides there is a silver stripe "like metal" - in general, a very common phenomenon.

The younger ONETOUCH Pop C3 is more practical, it has only a glossy front panel; the rear is made of completely matte black plastic. By the way, smartphones are also available in other colors. That is, you can easily buy the Pop C5 with a matte black back panel or the Pop C3 in a glossy white or pink body.

Despite the difference in color and material of the rear panel, it looks like it is generally similar for both smartphones (except that it is mirrored). All elements are collected in its upper part: speaker, camera, microphone hole. The only difference is that the Pop C5 has a flash, while the Pop C3 lacks it. A small point that I personally want to draw your attention to is the white rim around the lens of the younger ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop. The detail seems to be quite simple, but it adds a bit of originality to the device. An excellent find, there would be more of these from state employees!

I will talk about cameras in more detail later, but for now I will focus on the voice capabilities of ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5. Their speakers are really loud, that is, you won't miss a call. But this is all that can be said about them good. They wheeze, the sound gives off metal. In general, they do everything the same as the speakers of other budget devices. Although through high-quality headphones, both smartphones produced adequate sound, without wheezing and hoarseness.

The arrangement of parts on the side panels is completely identical. The power button and the headset jack are placed on the top end, the left is empty, on the right there is a two-position volume control. The bottom panel is occupied by a USB port and a microphone.

Speaking about the details, I'll dwell a little more on the front panel (and I'll tell you about the screens separately, so as not to create unnecessary confusion). They are slightly different for smartphones. Only the speaker and sensors (lighting, proximity) are located above the screen of the younger model. While the Pop C5 also has a front-facing camera with VGA resolution.

Another small detail that distinguishes smartphones is the illumination of the touch keys below the screen. Pop C5 has it and its younger brother does not.

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5 performs in the heavy category, its 157 grams seems very weighty in the hand. Its brother is not thinner at all, but much lighter (110 g). True, you are not happy about this for very long - only until you know the capacity of the battery. ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 only has 1300 mAh battery (the older model has 1800 mAh, which is still more decent).

The plump bodies of smartphones after more expensive devices seem very unusual in the hands, but this does not prevent the devices from being convenient - the small screen diagonal affects: 4 inches for the younger model and 4.5 "for the older one. In the case of each of them, I easily reached with my fingers. all points of the screen, working with one hand, while none of the smartphones tried to slip out of the palm of your hand. small hands size XS.

Screens

I have highlighted the screens as a separate item to tell about them in detail, but the devices should not be proud of the displays. Their resolution is not high, pixelation is noticeable with the naked eye: it seems to not interfere with work (not so critical), but it does not provide pleasant sensations either.

Screen data of ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3

Screen data ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5

I also cannot attribute color rendition to pluses. Subjectively - she's somehow not like that, the picture is ugly, lifeless or something. My thoughts were confirmed by the editorial colorimeter - the lines in the measurements seemed to go crazy and jump wherever they want. The only thing that more or less matches is the gamma curve. Well, at least with the reproduction of dark and light areas from smartphones you should not expect meanness.

The margin of brightness is small, even the maximum value turns out to be insufficient in bright sunlight. Although the corners are good except for the top one. Perhaps this is the only thing that made me happy about the screens.

To protect the screen, DragonTrail glass is used, a kind of analogue of the "gorilla glass". I didn’t dare to check for scratch resistance, but during the whole time of testing and wearing the ONETOUCH Pop C3 in my pocket, and then the ONETOUCH Pop C5, nothing happened to them.

Features and performance

Despite the differences in price, appearance and size, smartphones are completely identical in their basis. Each of them has a MediaTek MTK 6572 processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz, a Mali-400 MP graphics core and 512 MB random access memory... The configuration is far from the best, from the very first minutes of using smartphones, I noticed how slow they are. When one program is put on, and you are typing the name of another in Play Market, Pop C3 and Pop C5 think hard and make the whole world wait - French roots. If one or two applications are running in the background, you have to wait even longer. In general, about full-fledged multitasking or high speed work can only dream of. However, you cannot call the performance margin very small - for basic tasks and even for simple games such as "birds" or Cut The Rope, it is quite enough.

Test results ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3

Test results ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5

Due to the difference in diagonals, the devices differ somewhat in performance: the smaller and cheaper Pop C3 is subjectively a little more nimble than its larger counterpart. Only testing programs can confirm or deny my impressions, so on each of the ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pops, I launched a standard set - Quadrant, AnTuTu and Nena Mark 2.

Nena Mark 2 set 40.5 fps for the oldest smartphone and 41.7 fps for the youngest. The Quadrant scored 3264 points for the ONETOUCH Pop C3 and 2867 points for the ONETOUCH Pop C5. AnTuTu Benchmark gave them 10964 (C5) and 11434 points (C3). In general, the results are quite consistent with subjective feelings and with what other budget-class smartphones give out.

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 interface

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5 interface

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5 work under Android 4.2.2. with a proprietary shell. You should not expect such beauty as in LG or Samsung, everything is extremely simple, concise, but very convenient and not without good finds. Such as, for example, a lock screen with a ball that can be rotated using the built-in gyroscope and which immediately displays the battery level. Yet interesting idea with automatic switching to a profile with vibro, when the call volume is reduced to a minimum. Pressing the volume down again puts the smartphone into silent mode.

There are not many preinstalled interesting applications, but they are: Spritebackup (utility Reserve copy) collection of programs ONETOUCH Live, a program for creating a screen projection on a TV or computer monitor, office packages Kingsoft Office and Office Suite, social network clients Gameloft LIVE, Evernote, Antivirus, Shazam, PicSay, Deezer music service, WhatsApp, Viber ... There is even the ability to control some functions of smartphones with gestures, which is very nice for budget devices.

Cameras

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 camera interface

ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5 camera interface

As I said earlier, both smartphones are equipped with cameras. And in both, I can call them rather nominal. And the point here is not at all the low resolution of the matrix (3.2 MP for the C3 and 5 MP for the C5), but the fact that both of them lack autofocus. The pictures are of mediocre quality in bright light and poor - indoors or even if it's just cloudy outside. At the same time, the set of characteristics in the application is quite good for a budget employee - here you have both HDR and panorama.

Sample pictures ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3

Sample pictures ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5

The second camera of ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5 has VGA resolution with all the ensuing consequences: it is enough for communication via Skype or other video chats, but nothing more.

Autonomous work

As with most budget smartphones, ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5 have batteries of not very high capacity. ALCATEL Pop C5 has a 1800 mAh battery, while its younger brother has to be content with a 1300 mAh battery. It doesn't sound very pleasant for a potential owner, but I hasten to reassure everyone interested in these smartphones - in practice, everything turned out to be not so bad.

To check the time autonomous work I made each of the smartphones play videos in MX Player with the hardware decoder installed at half screen brightness and half volume. That is, approximately with the settings with which I would watch films. With this, the Wi-Fi modules were turned on. ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C5 lasted 9 hours 4 minutes in this marathon, and ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 retired at 6 hours 26 minutes.

An additional test was the work in the mode "I carry in my pocket, sometimes I call, watch news and mail, listen to music in the subway." In this version, ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 lasted the whole day, and still a little more than 30% of the charge remained. The older model is able to live even longer. Overall, this is very good for budget models, even if you can't call it an achievement.

In the dry residue

Models ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5 can hardly be called the best in their class, despite the fact that in the category inexpensive models with a 4-4.5-inch screen and a resolution of 800x480 it is not so easy to find on sale. - There are models similar to Pop C3 on the market ( Lenovo IdeaPhone A369i and Huawei Ascend Y330) and Pop C5 (Lenovo IdeaPhone A516) with the same specifications. Because of the small difference in performance, functionality, and cost, it is difficult to make a fully informed judgment about which one is the best buy. I personally liked these smartphones first of all for their good quality, high build quality and pleasant nuances of the proprietary shell. But again, I cannot say that Lenovo or Huawei devices are inferior to them in this capacity. But I can say that if I had chosen among budget devices, then the option with ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5 would definitely not have been discarded.

3 reasons to buy ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5

  • Practical, solid cases
  • Good price / performance ratio
  • Built-in GPS module

3 reasons not to buy ALCATEL ONETOUCH Pop C3 and C5

  • Weak cameras without autofocus
  • Weak displays with a low margin of brightness
  • You have the opportunity to buy a more expensive and more productive smartphone
