Lenovo vibe x2 specifications. Mobile phone Lenovo Vibe X2: description, specifications and reviews. Information about the brand, model and alternative names of a specific device, if any

Lenovo Vibe The X2 is a stylish and compact 5-inch smartphone. The dimensions of the device are 140x69 mm, the thickness of the case reaches 7.6 mm in some places. It is comparable in size to Huawei Honor 6, but the Honor 6 is marginally thicker. The Vibe X2 weighs 121 grams, lighter than the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 (128 grams) or the 4.6-inch Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (128 grams). As you can already understand, the smartphone is compact and thin. By the way, the camera lens does not stick out from the body, as is often the case with some popular thin smartphones... The Lenovo Vibe X2 fits well in the hand, but it is not very convenient to use with one hand.

Lenovo Vibe X2 has an unusual original design. The smartphone is as if assembled from four panels: the top panel is black, the other three layers are multi-colored. When viewed from the side, it is somewhat reminiscent of the "expanded" flag of Germany. In general, it looks unusual, the appearance of the smartphone will definitely appeal to girls. Today the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone can be bought in white and gold colors. There are also color options, but in Russia they, at least not yet, are not on sale. You can purchase accessories for your smartphone: a case, a special speaker and a charger.

The body of the Lenovo Vibe X2 is plastic and the build quality is high, but we noticed that it creaks slightly under pressure. The back is made of smooth plastic, pleasant to the touch. By the way, after two weeks of use, it hardly got scratched.

Screen - 4.3

One of the strengths of the Lenovo Vibe X2 is its good five-inch display. The display resolution is 1920 × 1080 pixels, which is high for such a diagonal. The matrix type is IPS, there is an oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating and a protective Gorilla Glass 3. The pixel density is 441 per inch, which is enough for a clear image on small fonts and icons.

The maximum display brightness, in our opinion, is not high - up to 328 cd / m2. However, if you switch to a special "High brightness mode", you can get 484 cd / m2, which is already very bright. Another thing is that you need to look for this mode separately in the settings. The minimum white brightness is 5 cd / m2, the display will definitely not dazzle in the dark. This is one of best ranges adjustable brightness. The display has auto brightness, we checked its work - it worked quickly, but only in "hard" mode, without the ability to adjust the brightness ranges using the slider. In the sun, reading from the display was difficult, but not critical. The viewing angles of the display are not maximum, but wide enough for comfortable work with a smartphone.

The grease repellent coating works well. This does not mean that the screen does not stain at all: while using the phone, prints remained on the screen, but they did not appear so quickly and were erased.

Camera

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone has 13 MP main and 5 MP front cameras, which are excellent for an "average" smartphone. The main camera is equipped with LED flash, autofocus, HDR mode, face and smile detection, panorama shooting and much more. Compared to the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, there are fewer settings, the camera resolution is also lower, but you must admit that the price tag is much more affordable.

The maximum photo resolution is 4160 × 43120 pixels. The camera shoots Full HD video at 30 frames per second. Audio is recorded in stereo. The camera interface is simple and straightforward, you don't have to search long desired settings... The photo quality is good and matches the high megapixel count. The camera copes well with light and does not make that much noise even on shots in the dark. At the same time, in terms of detail and sharpness, it is somewhat inferior to flagship cameras. You can be convinced of this by looking at examples of photos taken with a smartphone. Also, in tests, we did not always succeed in focusing on the desired object the first time, so we recommend making several takes. It's good that the camera shoots quickly.

The 5 MP front camera of the phone is enough for video calls, it is excellent for selfies. The camera has no autofocus and no flash. But, as we wrote earlier, at CES 2015 Lenovo introduced a special accessory for the phone - a separate flash for selfies Vibe Xtention Selfie Flash. It is not yet available for sale, and it is unclear whether it will appear. Also, the front camera shoots Full HD video at 30 frames per second.

Working with text - 3.0

To our surprise, the phone uses a standard Google keyboard. The company is redrawing the interface, but has not yet reached the keyboard, even for the flagship Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, manufacturers have not drawn their own keyboard.

Overall, Google's keyboard is good. When typing, you can use continuous input... There is a separate key to switch between languages. There are no additional symbols on the icons, only numbers on the top row of keys. Note that in "portrait" mode, typing with one hand is real and quite convenient.

Internet - 3.0

As browsers on the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone are preinstalled Google chrome and Yandex Browser. The first has support for synchronizing tabs with the desktop version of the browser, the second has the "Turbo" mode for fast loading pages, the ability to close tabs automatically when you exit the browser, etc. If you need a reading mode or automatic text fitting, then you can always download and install another favorite browser. As tests have shown, the smartphone copes well with several open tabs, works quickly and does not "slow down".

Interfaces

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone has support for all popular wireless interfaces except for NFC and IrDA. Separately, we note the presence of dual-band Wi-Fi and high-speed Wi-Fi standard (802.11 ac). The smartphone has a Bluetooth module with support for the A2DP profile for audio transmission, the ability to work in Russian LTE frequencies (Cat 4 up to 150 Mbit / s), A-GPS and with GLONASS.

The only drawback is the slow GPS-module, it has a long cold start, which took a couple of minutes. Otherwise, everything functioned well. For a complete flagship suite, only NFC is missing. The phone is equipped with a slot for Micro-SIM cards, Micro-USB connector, but, unfortunately, OTG and MHL are not supported, you cannot connect peripherals or transfer high-definition video via USB.

Multimedia - 3.0

The multimedia capabilities of the Lenovo Vibe X2 can be called average. The smartphone supports common video formats and codecs, plays video in high quality, up to Full HD video. However, in our tests, it was unable to run, for example, FLV video. There is no choice of subtitles and audio tracks in the built-in video player, as well as any other settings, except for the list with the playback history. The audio player plays the popular MP3 and AAC formats, as well as WAV, but does not play AC3 and FLAC (the latter can be launched through the file manager). The smartphone is preinstalled standard application Play Music is not the most convenient. The Lenovo Vibe X2 comes with headphones, but, in our opinion, they are of poor quality, for such a price I would like better headphones.

Battery - 2.8

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone is equipped with a 2300 mAh rechargeable battery. By today's standards, the capacity cannot be called large, as the Huawei Honor 6 has a 3100 mAh battery, although it is only slightly thicker. Formal capacity is not everything, how did the smartphone perform in battery tests? The battery passed our tests well, the results are comparable to the LG Nexus 5 battery (the same 2300 mAh). The Lenovo Vibe X2 played HD video at maximum brightness for about 6 and a half hours, which is not bad. In the mode of listening to music it lasted "only" 43 hours. Compared to the Nexus 5, the latter ran out faster in the video test, but longer in the music player mode.

As for daily use - it was enough for a day "with a tail", but it did not last up to one and a half days. Note that the smartphone has fairly wide power settings - emergency mode (only calls and SMS messages are available in it), disabling applications in sleep mode, saving energy for the screen, etc.

The kit comes with the smartphone Charger by 1.5 A.

Performance - 3.9

The device uses the MediaTek MT6595m True8Core platform, as the name implies, eight-core - four 1.7 GHz cores and four 2 GHz cores. Responsible for the graphics PowerVR G600, the amount of RAM - 2 GB. Smartphone performance on the highest level, The "filling" is one of the most productive for today, in our tests it coped well with heavy games and benchmarks. Thanks to the optimization of the shell and powerful hardware, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone works quickly, and this applies to both built-in applications and third-party programs. The phone can be considered as gaming platform, in our tests, NOVA 3, Dead Trigger, Minion Rush and Asphalt 8 loaded quickly and ran smoothly even at maximum settings. The smartphone worked quickly in daily use.

In benchmarks, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone showed high, flagship results. In the AnTuTu benchmark, it received points comparable to the results of the Sony Xpeira Z3 Compact - 45400 points, and in Ice Storm Unlimited from 3DMark a little lower - an average of 12243 points.

Memory - 2.5

Built-in memory Lenovo smartphone Vibe X2 is 32 GB, of which about 26.2 GB is available to the user - this amount of memory will be enough for most users. Like many smartphones of the line, there is no memory card slot and this is a significant disadvantage of the phone.

Peculiarities

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 OS and Lenovo's proprietary shell. The manufacturer plans to update the OS to Android Lollipop in mid-2015. The appearance of the system interface has been changed, the dialer has been redrawn, the launcher has been replaced, etc. It is a little unusual that there is no separate menu with a list of all applications. Also, the smartphone has separate "special" settings, where a lot of interesting things are hidden. For example, displaying the "smart menu" button with quick access to a number of applications, "wake up" the display with a double tap, gesture to launch the camera and much more.

The main feature of the smartphone is its unusual design. Due to the thin layered case, Lenovo Vibe X2 looks fresh and unusual. Also among the features we will name support for high-speed Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, LTE, glove mode.

Lenovo Vibe X2 a powerful android smartphone in an elegant lightweight body with support for high-speed 4G LTE networks in a three-layer design. Lenovo vibe x2 equipped with a powerful 8-core processor and Android 4.4 Kit Kat operating system. Of the main Vibe X2 specifications You can also highlight: a large 5-inch Full HD screen, a Li-polymer battery with a capacity of 2300 mAh, a main 13 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, a 5 megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls, 32 GB of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM ... Powerful characteristics of Lenovo vibe x2 will cope with any task, large RAM will provide multi-tasking of the smartphone, support latest applications and games without freezing Vibe X2, and high-speed 4G LTE networks will allow you to comfortably watch online videos from the Internet on the big bright Lenovo vibe x2 screen. For users who like to travel a lot, there is an opportunity to use the Lenovo Vibe X2 as a GPS-navigator, on its large screen you can choose a destination on the map and get the best route.

Probably, the first years of Lenovo's work (this is a Chinese manufacturer, if someone did not know until today) can be called the most real running-in. In this case, the smartphone market became a testing ground for the company, where new devices were constantly tested. How did this manifest itself? At first, the Chinese manufacturer supplied salons with cellular not very expensive devices. However, at certain points in the sequence inexpensive models, so to speak, were diluted with top-end smartphones with the corresponding cost. But such moves were fully justified.

Introduction

Within the territory of Russian Federation Lenovo has already established itself quite well as a reliable supplier mobile technology, tablet computers and laptops. And every year the position of the Chinese manufacturer is only getting stronger. There are probably practical reasons for this. However, our current goal is not to characterize the company, but to figure out what its brainchild is under the name Lenovo Vibe X2, the price of which is currently about 15 thousand rubles.

History

I remember that the real shift of the company was the sale of the flagship under the name K900. This applies to sales in the Russian Federation. In this regard, a completely natural question may arise: "Why exactly then?" The answer is very, very simple, if you think about it for a minute. The thing is that at that time the corresponding model had truly top-end characteristics, which, in the opinion of experts, won over a considerable audience to the side of the Chinese manufacturer.

At the same time, the device had not only a completely unique, but an attractive design, which many future buyers of the device appreciated. Let's remind that the main parameter that influenced this was the phone case, made thinly, of high quality and of metal. The price of the device also played an important role. Thus, the Chinese firm has been able to achieve significant success in terms of market advancement, appearing to be heard by many new people.

After the K900, a few more good devices from the manufacturer entered the smartphone market. But the real leader among them turned out to be a model called Vibe X. Actually, the dominance of this device over other products of the line marked the beginning of the modification of the old (or the development of a new) device. Probably, Vibe X can be called a clear example of how the Chinese manufacturer is able to work, and what it can offer from smartphones to potential buyers.

It was in such an environment, with such a preliminary positioning, that the development of Lenovo Vibe X2 was carried out, the price of which falls in the range from 13 to 15 thousand rubles per this moment... In general terms, this is nothing more than a mid-range smartphone. Its parameters (and I mean the hardware stuffing - from the processor to the camera) are not fantastic, but quite impressive, especially considering the cost of the device. The device has a versatile design. Why did the Chinese decide to do this? Probably, the versatility should have helped to avoid a lot of negative reviews. After all, you can never guess who will like what. And versatility is versatility in Africa as well.

A few more words about the cost of Lenovo Vibe In the article, you may notice mentions that the price of a smartphone is not that great. This refers to the current position of the device in the smartphone market. At the very beginning of sales, the cost of the device did not match it for buyers. However, now we can say that everything has settled down, and the device is put up for sale at an adequate price. In general, the basis for positioning Lenovo Vibe X2 LTE is just the same price / quality ratio.

Brief technical characteristics. Software

First of all, let's take a look at the operating system. On board Lenovo Vibe X2 Gold, we have an OS of the Android family. More specifically, this is version 4.4 KitKat. But some companies don't stop at using regular operating systems. This was the case with HTC as well. The Chinese company decided to keep up with the Thais and developed a custom skin called Vibe UI, which it implanted into the Lenovo Vibe X2 Gold phone.

cellular

The device works in GSM networks, HSDPA + is supported. But what was especially pleasing (but for such and such a cost it is understandable) is the ability to transfer data in networks fourth generation, which is provided through the use of a hardware LTE module. Thus, the owner of the phone will be able to surf the Internet at an increased speed, open web pages faster, and download videos and other media files faster.

CPU

As a chipset, in this case, we have a device from MediaTek, this is the MT6595m model. The processor works with eight cores, the maximum clock frequency can reach two gigahertz. Very, very good for a similar device for the corresponding price. PowerVR G600 acts as a graphics subsystem. The smartphone has two gigabytes of RAM, which is more than enough for 90 percent of games and applications. It becomes possible to successfully use the phone in multifunctional mode and open several programs at the same time. At the same time, the operating system runs smoothly and clearly, without any hint of failures.

Memory

For storing user data (i.e. text documents, music, photos, videos and movies, as well as games and applications), the phone has 32 gigabytes of non-volatile memory. However, one of the drawbacks, even with such a volume, is the lack of a slot in which to install a memory card. He is simply missing. Apparently, the Chinese manufacturer decided that 32 gigabytes would be enough for the average user for a lifetime. Bad, yes, but what to do? Well, in the meantime, we move on.

Wireless Modules

The Lenovo Vibe X2 phone, which is reviewed in this article, works with Wi-Fi wireless modules (in b, g, n range networks), as well as Bluetooth (version 4.1). In this case, there is a port for synchronization with personal computer or laptop. The same socket is used to charge the device. This is, of course, a MicroUSB port. You can (and should) connect a wired stereo headset to your smartphone (and should be in the case of using FM radio). It can also be used when playing multimedia data.

Display

Phone Lenovo Vibe X2, the review of which has rapidly spread around the international network, is equipped with a screen with a diagonal of 5 inches. The display matrix is made using IPS technology, which means that the load on the eyes of the owner of the phone during its operation will be reduced to a minimum value. The technology works very well when the backlight is the least active. Well, or when reading at night e-books from the device screen. The picture is displayed in Full HD resolution. The dot density is 441 pixels per inch. There is a function of automatic adjustment of the backlight level through the use of an appropriate sensor.

Cameras

The smartphone about which we will give at the end of this article has two cameras. The main one has a resolution of 13 megapixels, and thanks to this, it produces stunning images of objects. Is there anything else to say about video recording with its help? Is that the resolution will be 1080 pixels. The front camera is perfect for selfies. It is a 5 megapixel device. The main camera is equipped with an automatic focusing function on the subject, as well as an LED flash.

Satellites

Navigation in space is carried out using GPS technology, and the module is present and allows you to accurately receive data on the location on satellite map... Thus, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone, reviews of which give a positive assessment to the device, can also be used as a navigator when traveling by car.

Sensors

In addition, I would like to note the presence of an accelerometer, which is useful in some games. The required set of sensors is available. It includes a proximity sensor, which turns on and off the backlight of the screen during a telephone conversation, and also adjusts the level of illumination of the display depending on external light manifestations.

Autonomous work

The device has a built-in lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 2,300 mAh. Not so much, but quite a lot. Although energy will be spent, as they say, from the heart. And there is no doubt about that. Especially considering the specifics operating system of the "Android" family. In conclusion, we note that the dimensions of the phone in three-dimensional space are the following parameters: 140.2 mm high, 68.6 mm wide, and 7.3 mm thick. At the same time, the weight of the device has been reduced to a record level of only 120 grams.

Conclusion and feedback

Among the advantages of the device - good quality work of cellular communication, as well as other wireless modules. Wi-Fi receives the signal freely, effortlessly. The cellular network does not disappear. What else can you expect from a smartphone for 15 thousand rubles, which is equipped with LTE technology? Decent speaker volume. There is stock. The interlocutor's speech from that end of the line comes with high quality, cleanliness and distinctness. In general, the expected plus sign. The same goes for vibrating alert. It will be difficult not to notice him.

Among the expected logical shortcomings, we first of all have time autonomous work... Yes, in principle, 2,300 mAh is not so little. But obviously not for those who buy a smartphone hoping to use it (with such and such characteristics!) To the fullest, non-stop, all day long. In this case, the only solution to the issue will be the purchase of an additional external battery say, 10,000 A. It will allow you to fully charge the phone at least twice. And this is in the absence electrical network... The second drawback is the lack of a memory card slot. Although let's hope that the built-in 32 gigabytes will still be enough for the owners of the phone.

At IFA 2014, Lenovo rolled out an unusual smartphone Vibe X2, the multilayer body of which was made in a gradient color palette. At the same time, the device turned out to be not only thin, but also quite light. Who would like this "puff", decided during its tasting Vesti.Hitek.

The design of smartphones, as a rule, does not please with variety. Most of them get monobloc type housings made of plastic and / or metal, in some cases supplemented with exotic materials such as bamboo or leather. You can literally count on fingers the innovations that have affected the boring classic design of the devices over the past few years. All the more attention deserve Lenovo's efforts to create smartphones that are competitive not only in performance and price, but also attract their appearance... Thus, the original, multi-layered and bright design distinguishes the new Vibe X2, which, in a sense, continues the glorious traditions of the "dandy" -flagman. Recall that it is in the Vibe series that Lenovo collects powerful and sophisticated smartphones.

Design, ergonomics

In the new smartphone, they decided to abandon the streamlined forms of last year's model, which were replaced by slightly smoothed right angles of a regular parallelepiped ("brick", in a simple way).

But, of course, the main "chip" of Vibe X2 has become a multilayer design - three thin color gradient panels are combined into a single monolith with a dark layer of the screen with protective glass. A gradient here means a harmonious change from one color of a layer to another. At the same time, the back panel can be painted in white, red, gold or dark gray. Generally speaking, the Vibe X2 was the first smartphone in the world to receive such an unusually layered design.

Instead of textured polycarbonate "like metal", as in now, according to unofficial information, however, a magnesium alloy is used for the case (although, to be honest, it looks a lot like ordinary matte plastic). One way or another, the Vibe X2 turned out to be slightly lighter than its predecessor - 120 g versus 121 g. At the same time, while retaining the 5-inch display, the device shrank in terms of dimensions (140.2x68.6 mm versus 144x74 mm), but a little "got better" (7.27 mm versus 6.9 mm). Most likely, the loss of slimness is still a price to pay for a multi-layered design.

The front side of the smartphone is completely covered with a protective glass, in the upper part of which they assembled a "speech" speaker, a front camera, light and proximity sensors, as well as a charging / notification indicator.

Under the display are dedicated touch keys ("Menu", "Home" and "Back") with backlight. Without the latter, with the screen off, the front side of the Vibe X2 is just Malevich's black rectangle. There are no logos or other identification marks on it.

On the right edge (on the middle layer) there is an on / off button and a volume rocker,

and on the left is a closed slot with a tray for a microSIM card. For his lock, a special key is included in the kit with a smartphone, which, however, can be easily replaced with a thin paper clip. Relatively big size tray is due to the fact that it has reserved space for the second, already nanoSIM-card, which is mandatory in the Asian version of the device (X2-TO).

The bottom end of the case is occupied by a microUSB connector and a hole for a "spoken" microphone,

and the top is just a 3.5mm audio-out jack for the corresponding headset or headphones.

The holes for the lens of the main camera, LED flash and an additional microphone (noise canceling systems) were placed at the top of the rear panel, which is decorated with the Lenovo logo.

In the lower part there is a place for a "multimedia" speaker grill and a 3-pin group for connecting Vibe Xtension branded accessories (more about them below). By the way, the kit with the smartphone includes a protective film for the screen and a transparent plastic bumper for the back panel.

So, the Vibe X2 manufacturer did not offend the appearance. Maybe the slightly angular body of the novelty is not as pleasant in the hand as the streamlined last year's, but this is a purely individual feeling. And it is quite comfortable to operate the device with one hand.

Screen, camera, sound

The new smartphone received a 5-inch screen on an IPS-matrix with a Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels), while the pixel density per inch is 441 ppi.

The display is built with no air gap technology, so the wide viewing angles don't disappoint. The image is quite clear, with decent color reproduction and good rendering of small details.

The reserve of brightness is enough even for work in bright ambient light (including sunlight). Its level can be set manually, or you can rely on the readings of the light sensor, according to which it is automatically adjusted. In addition, in the settings, you can set the high brightness mode, not forgetting that it is associated with high power consumption. With prolonged use of the device, the so-called adaptive mode is recommended, which, according to the manufacturer, provides eye protection. A comfortable color balance can be easily selected on your own in a custom mode, where the temperature of the tone and its saturation are individually adjusted. For smooth video playback, the ClearMotion option is provided in the screen settings.

The multitouch technology allows you to process up to ten simultaneous clicks, which is confirmed by the results of the AntTuTu Tester and MultiTouch Test programs. The inclusion of the corresponding option that increases the sensitivity of the touch layer of the screen, allows you to work with your smartphone with gloves.

The Vibe X2 uses a photo module for the main camera with a 13-megapixel BSI-matrix, f / 2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. The resolution of the images is 4096x2304 pixels (9.4 MP) with an aspect ratio of 16: 9, as well as 4160x3120 pixels (13 MP) and 3120x3120 pixels (9.7 MP) with a frame ratio of 4: 3 and 1: 1, respectively. The front camera, designed mainly for selfies and video calls, received a photo module with a 5-megapixel matrix, but without autofocus. The resolution of the "self" is as follows - 1920x1920 pixels (1: 1), 2560x1920 pixels (4: 3) and 2560x1440 pixels (16: 9), respectively.

The Camera app launches directly from the lock screen. The interface of this program is quite simple and intuitive. In the settings you can choose one of three modes - "Panorama", "Special effects" and "Normal shooting". In the latter case, several preset scenes are offered, including "Portrait", "Sunset", "Beach", etc. Manual adjustment of contrast, saturation, sharpness and exposure is available. In addition, the user selects the ISO value (100-1600) and the white balance ("incandescent", "sunlight", etc.). A separate icon is highlighted to enable HDR mode. The volume rocker can be easily assigned for shooting or image scaling (up to 4x).

For "crossbows" with front camera you can not only pre-improve the complexion, but also choose the most convenient shutter release mode: by timer, touch, gesture, voice and even blinking. Both cameras of the smartphone can record videos in Full HD quality (resolution 1920x1080 pixels, 16: 9) with a frame rate of 30 fps. At the same time, all content is saved in MP4 container files (AVC - video, AAC - sound). For the main camera, the inclusion of electronic image stabilization is provided.

Although the sound of the built-in speaker is loud, it is rather "dry" and harsh. This quality is quite enough for watching movies, but it is better to listen to music using at least the included audio headset. Incidentally, it is also useful as an antenna for the built-in FM tuner. Significantly improved acoustic performance of the Vibe X2 is provided by the dedicated Vibe Xtension Hi-Fi accessory (sold separately), 8.3 mm thick, which attaches to the back of the smartphone. Acoustic system JBL, which works up to 5 hours without recharging, in comparison with the built-in speaker guarantees not only an increase in sound volume, but also an improvement in its quality.

Filling, performance

Vibe X2 was one of the first smartphones to receive the latest 8-core MediaTek MT6595M processor (less powerful version of MT6595) with ARM architecture big.LITTLE GTS. On a single die, four powerful Cortex-A15 cores (2.0 GHz) work in tandem with four energy efficient Cortex-A7 cores (1.5 GHz).

Heterogeneous multi-processing, which MediaTek calls True8Core, allows all eight cores to be used simultaneously. Graphics processing is handled by the PowerVR 6200 (450 MHz) Rogue family accelerator. The amount of RAM of the smartphone is 2 GB, which is quite enough for almost any task.

Not finding mutual understanding with Vibe X2, synthetic tests AnTuTu 5.2.0 for some reason refused to verify a rather good result in 41,739 "virtual parrots".

But when measuring the "horsepower" of the processor on the Vellamo Metal benchmark, as well as on multi-core tests (Vellamo Multicore), the new product from Lenovo turned out to be an absolute favorite without any misunderstanding.

With variable settings of High Performance and High Quality (performance at the expense of quality and vice versa) on the Epic Citadel visual test average frequency frames differed only in the decimal place and amounted to 53.8 and 53.1 fps, respectively. But when changing the setting to Ultra High Quality, this parameter decreased by almost 1.8 times (to 30.1 fps).

Generally speaking, in terms of performance, the Vibe X2 can compete on an equal footing with modern flagships. The smartphone easily copes with almost all tasks, without fear of "heavy" games. It was not for nothing that they immediately installed it and offered to try such well-known hits as, for example, Asphalt 8, Real Football 2014 and "Spider-Man".

Of the 32 GB of declared internal memory, only about 26.2 GB is available, and 25.7 GB is free. Unfortunately, the expansion of memory in this smartphone, as in its predecessor, is not provided either by microSD cards or by connecting external flash drives (USB-OTG). This is perhaps the most significant drawback of this device.

Of course, among wireless communications the smartphone has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that are mandatory today. In addition, the device works in the Russian cellular networks of the fourth generation 4G (LTE FDD, Band 7 and 20). And to determine the location and navigation, it is proposed to use GPS and GLONASS satellites with A-GPS support.

In a flaky body Vibe X2 placed a non-removable lithium-polymer battery for 2,300 mAh, the capacity of which for the existing filling is clearly not enough. Note that, for example, another 5-inch smartphone with a Full HD screen resolution and also equipped with an 8-core processor received a 3,100 mAh battery. To somehow improve the situation with the power supply of the Vibe X2, the Vibe Xtension Battery accessory is offered for it, which is an additional battery for another 2,300 mAh. This battery is attached to the body of the smartphone, while its thickness is 5.1 mm.

On battery tests AnTuTu Tester 2.2 new smartphone earned 5,745 points. For Vibe X2, the manufacturer claims the talk time for 2G networks is up to 22 hours, and for 3G / 4G networks - up to 11.5 hours. Our set of MP4 and Full HD videos ran continuously at full brightness for just over 3.5 hours.

In the Power Manager settings section, you can use emergency mode, reducing the functionality of your smartphone to voice calls and SMS messages. In addition, it is proposed to save battery power there by enabling options that reduce the brightness of the screen backlight and / or the performance of the graphics accelerator.

Software

The Vibe X2 smartphone is running an operating room Android systems 4.4.2 (KitKat) with a proprietary Vibe UI shell, where there is no separate program menu, and the icons of all installed applications, folders and widgets are located on desktops. As in the device, tapping on the "Build number" line several times can activate the "For Developers" menu, but, alas, there is no longer an item for switching to the standard Android interface.

The shell interface allows you to refresh themes, lock screens, desktop wallpapers, and to change the latter, it is enough to make a gesture that resembles turning a page from the left or right corner of the display. The settings of the notification panel are conveniently configured. But the most interesting "chips" are presented in the "Special" settings tab.

So, if you enable the "Double tap" option, then after a double tap on the screen, the smartphone either wakes up or goes into sleep mode. By the way, you can turn on the display backlight with the volume rocker using the appropriate settings item ("On with the volume buttons"). But the activation of the "High-speed snapshot" allows you to take an "instant" photo when the screen is off. double tap by the "Home" button. Since this touch button is practically invisible without backlighting, you should be guided by its approximate location. The captured photo will appear on the screen with icons to delete it and / or go to the Camera application.

Using the "Smart Menu" on any desktop, you can call a pop-up menu containing icons for performing certain actions or calling services / applications, including "Calculator", "Search", " Voice search"," Alarm clock "," Camera "," Close ", etc. In this case, the menu is called either by a special button with adjustable transparency, or by touching a previously" calibrated "finger.

With the help of "Smart Scripts", it is easy to configure the launch of various applications or services according to a predetermined schedule or when connected to a selected Wi-Fi access point (it is bound in advance). But using the appropriate options, you can, for example, increase the ringtone volume by putting your smartphone in your pocket, and vice versa, decrease the sound by taking the device in your hand.

Purchase, conclusions

Among its 8-core "classmates" Lenovo Vibe X2 looks quite worthy. With a starting cost of 14,990 rubles, in particular, it falls into the price niche between Alcatel OneTouch Idol + (12,990 rubles) and (16,990 rubles). Recall that all these smartphones, among other things, received 5-inch screens with Full HD-resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). In terms of the amount of RAM, it stands out among them (2 GB versus 2 GB versus 3 GB), but the smallest built-in storage is carried on board the same smartphone (32 GB versus 32 GB versus 16 GB). True, it only knows how to expand it with microSD / HC / XC memory cards. The lightest and thinnest of all turned out to be the Lenovo Vibe X2 (120 g versus 125 g versus 135 g) and (7.27 mm versus 7.9 mm versus 7.5 mm), respectively. All devices received 13-megapixel main cameras, while, due to the unpretentious front camera, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol + will be the least preferred for selfie lovers (5 MP versus 2 MP versus 5 MP). But the battery capacities were distributed as follows - 2,300 mAh versus 2,500 mAh versus 3,100 mAh.

Thus, the key advantages of the Lenovo Vibe X2 over its competitors include its stylish and fresh design, as well as its small thickness and weight. But the main disadvantage of this smartphone is the small capacity of the lithium polymer battery. As already noted, such a defect is "cured" by the additional accessory Vibe Xtension Battery, but then the superiority in thickness and weight will have to be forgotten. Nevertheless, the "multi-layered appearance" sets the device apart from the mass of other, not too expressive, devices. This will certainly appeal to users who prefer originality in everything.

The results of the review of the smartphone Lenovo Vibe X2

Pros:

  • Stylish layered design
  • Small thickness and weight
  • High performance

Minuses:

  • Insufficient battery capacity
  • No slot for microSD memory cards

Lenovo began its journey in the smartphone market with the release of models in which the focus was on accessibility. Today, having already become a prominent player, Lenovo is beginning to explore new opportunities to expand its share, gradually adding more expensive models to the smartphone portfolio. Lenovo Vibe X2 came to our review, in which the company tried to highlight not so much due to the characteristics, but with the help of an unusual design. Let's see if Lenovo has succeeded in creating a smartphone that can be interesting not only for its price and characteristics, but also for its appearance.

Equipment

The smartphone comes in a box made in several colors, and even she tells us that inside we are waiting for a not quite simple phone. In order to open the box there is a special loop, pulling on which opens access to the upper compartment.

It contains the device itself, paper documentation, a clip for opening the SIM card slot, a bumper made of transparent plastic and a protective film for the screen. In the lower compartment there is a vacuum headset, a microUSB cable and a 1.5 A power supply unit. As you can see, the kit is more than good.

Appearance and usability

The dimensions of the body of the smartphone cannot be called small, since it is equipped with a 5-inch screen. The dimensions of the device are 140.2x68.6x7.27 mm, and the weight is only 120 grams.

The main feature of the smartphone is its multi-layer body. Let's start with her. When looking at the sidewall in any color of the Vibe X2, a gradient consisting of three colors (not counting the dark display frame) is clearly visible. This is what makes the appearance of the device unusual. It's worth noting that these are indeed separate layers, not a painted one-piece plastic insert.

A gold color version came to our review, but it is worth remembering that there are two more - red and white.

Otherwise, everything is familiar - the front side is covered with protective glass. In the upper part there is an earpiece, proximity and lighting sensors, a 5MP front camera lens and a missed event LED. Below are backlit hardware touch keys.

On the right side there is a volume and power button, and on the left there is a slot for a SIM-card in microSIM format. At the top is a 3.5mm audio jack, while at the bottom is a microphone and microUSB jack.

On the back side there is a 13 megapixel main camera lens with flash, an additional microphone, the manufacturer's logo, a multimedia speaker and contacts for accessories.

The accessories include a removable battery that doubles the capacity and adds only 5.1 mm to the thickness and a two-channel Hi-Fi speaker JBL, which in turn increases the thickness by 8.3 mm, and connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

If we talk about the quality of workmanship, then in this regard, the smartphone shows itself very well, not least because of the non-separable body. The only thing I didn't like was that the mechanical keys are loose. A smartphone came to us after several colleagues in the shop, and this is very noticeable.

Screen despite use protective glass, has already become covered with small scratches, and the back side also does not look the same as on the new device, therefore for those who like to keep the appearance of the device, you should use the complete screen protector and a transparent case.

The location of the mechanical keys is very convenient. Everything is located where you expect to find it. Rather sharp corners affect usability, but it's all a matter of habit. After a few days, you don't notice any discomfort at all.

Operating system and shell

The smartphone works under Android 4.4 paired with Lenovo Launcher v6. The appearance of the shell is already well known to us from the previous devices of the company, which have visited us on the test. Let's just say that the device works very fast, while the shell has many settings and interesting functions that can satisfy any user.

Hardware platform

The Lenovo Vibe X2 is powered by an 8-core MediaTek MT6595m processor, which consists of four ARM Cortex-A17 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. As a result, we get a typical solution based on the ARM big.LITTLE technology. It should be noted that the “m” index at the end of the processor name indicates that this is the weakest configuration of the MT6595 processor, which is distinguished by understated frequencies. The video adapter is PowerVR 6200 operating at 450 MHz. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, of which about 1.1 GB is available during normal use. The built-in memory is 32 GB, but the user has about 26 GB and all of it is available for installing applications.

Competitor this processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (8974AC) is in favor. I agree that there is much more confidence in Qualcomm's processors, but the benchmark results and real impressions of a device with a MediaTek MT6595 processor indicate that there is no reason for mistrust.

The performance of the device is more than enough for the smooth operation of the interface and the launch of demanding games. For example, the well-known game Real Racing 3 runs at maximum settings without dropping fps. The rest of the games are also easy to start, but it is worth considering that with prolonged use of the smartphone under high loads, its body heats up.

Wi-Fi and GPS work seamlessly. Data transfer occurs as quickly as possible, and the speed of searching for satellites no longer raises questions. The quality of the voice speaker is not the best. At maximum volume, the sound becomes harsh and squeaky. But the sound quality of the multimedia speaker is quite good, but its location on the back spoils everything. If you put your smartphone on a table, the speaker is completely blocked, which greatly muffles the sound, making it easy to miss a call. The vibration quality is good, but you shouldn't rely on it alone. Lovers of listening to music with headphones will appreciate the sound at its true worth, because it is really good.

We could not check the support of video codecs by the built-in player using AnTuTu Video Tester, so we used the old technique. As a result, we can conclude that the phone can easily cope with all popular video codecs.

Autonomy

The built-in battery capacity is only 2300 mAh. Despite this, with moderate use it can last for one day with data transfer and automatic brightness on. If we still restrict ourselves to basic capabilities, then you can count on two days of battery life with 4 hours of active screen and always-on data transfer. If this is not enough, then there is "Emergency mode", in which only calls and SMS messages are available. Naturally, using your smartphone to the maximum - to play heavy games and watch videos, then get ready to charge the device in the evening.

Display

The smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution. There is an oleophobic coating, so fingerprints are easily erased. The pixel density is 441 ppi.

In sunny weather, the software capabilities to increase the brightness and contrast are great. Thanks to them, the information on the screen remains visible even in direct sunlight. The automatic brightness control sensor behaves adequately, smoothly adjusting the brightness when it is really necessary, while not overestimating or underestimating it.

One of the features of the smartphone is the advanced screen settings. In addition to standard mode there is also adaptive mode, high brightness mode, customizable and advanced outdoor modes. In the custom mode, you can adjust the hue and saturation.

The results of measurements of the screen showed the following: the maximum screen brightness is - 373 cd / m2 in normal mode and 564 cd / m² in high brightness mode, the minimum value is 5.3 cd / m² in normal mode and 13.7 cd / m² in high brightness mode, display contrast is 1: 792 in normal mode. As you can see from the results, it is not surprising that the information on the display is easily distinguishable even in sunny weather.

The screen calibration check shows us that the display has a much larger color space than sRGB. Green and red are shifted towards warmer hues. The color temperature graph really pleased with the minimum deviation from the reference value. This is extremely rare. But the gamma curve did not work out at all. The chart shows a significant jump.

The result is a very good, I would even say correct display. It has incorporated both the correct temperature and high brightness values. For those who like to read at night, the screen will also not seem bright.

Cameras

The smartphone is equipped with two cameras - a 5 megapixel front camera and a 13 megapixel main camera. The video recording capabilities are quite wide - the main camera writes in Full HD resolution, and the front one - HD. If the front camera is a completely ordinary camera with a fixed focal length, which is useful for lovers of selfies or for communicating via Skype, then the main one is much more interesting. Present manual settings contrast, saturation, sharpness, exposure and others.

The quality of the photos themselves is not the best, but good. In general, the detailing is even throughout the frame, noise reduction works correctly. Even at night, the shots are good. However, you can see for yourself.

Outcomes

Lenovo VIBE X2 is a smartphone that can stand out with its unusual appearance. Among its advantages, it is worth highlighting a high-quality and lightweight body, productive hardware, an excellent screen and a good camera. But among the shortcomings - not well thought out location of the multimedia speaker and modest battery life. But don't think that everything is so simple. At a cost of 5999 UAH, it has a lot of competitors. Among them there are both last year's flagships, which have not lost their attractiveness, and new devices. And here the choice for the buyer will truly become very difficult, but even among all this variety, the hero of the review is not lost precisely due to the appearance.
